New platform for the production of advanced therapy medicinal products using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)

iPADTER is a project whose primary objective is the development of technologies and processes associated with the cultivation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their differentiation into other human cell lines, enabling participating companies to undertake projects for the development and industrialisation of these novel advanced allogeneic therapy medicines using cells derived from them, in various fields of medicine, including immunotherapy, solid tumour therapy and regenerative medicine, among others.

The iPADTER project has been designed in two phases, the first focusing on research work with iPSCs and the second phase on the differentiation of iPSCs into other cell lines, such as NK cells.

Histocell’s participation and leadership in this project, carried out in collaboration with the company Histokine Factory S.L., is part of the business strategy set out for the next two years to achieve three key objectives:

1) To promote its scientific activity in the field of advanced therapies (ATMP – Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products) and expand its scope to the field of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), thanks to the acquisition of new scientific and technical knowledge related to the development of iPSC-based therapies, enabling it to offer advisory services to third parties.

2) Research into technologies that enable the refinement of iPSC culture and differentiation techniques for the development of products for third parties.

3) Apply to the AEMPS for certification as a manufacturer of this type of therapy for third parties, thereby expanding its product portfolio as a CMO.
